Westwood Kids & Westwood Youth Update
Hello Westwood Church,
As we prepare for a new ministry year, I wanted to share an update about Westwood Kids and Westwood Youth this fall. Beginning this September:
Westwood Youth (Grades 6–12) will return to meeting on Wednesday nights from 7:00–9:00 p.m., beginning September 9.
Westwood Kids (Infants–5th Grade) will no longer have Wednesday night programming.
Why the change?
Westwood Kids will continue to meet on Sunday mornings and will be adding more whole-family events throughout the year.
Last year we expanded Westwood Wednesdays to include younger children. While we appreciated the opportunity to try something new, we found that the changes made it harder for many teens to participate fully. The earlier start time conflicted with after-school activities, and the shorter evening left less time for the relationships and small-group conversations that are such an important part of Youth Group.
After prayer and discussion, Barb, Brian, and I believe returning to this format is the best way to care well for both ministries. We’re grateful for leaders who are willing to try new approaches, learn from them, and continue following where God is leading.
